All Our Exes Live In Texas @ The Press Club
They do, and George Strait, (or the Shafers), would be proud. There’s nothin’ to be ashamed of if y’all’ve got a four-part harmony thang goin’ awn… nothin’. Ya hear me?
Stellar in their own right, the four-part harmony work, along with guitar, mandolin, uke and the ol’ squeeze box sets these four apart… something to look forward to. Ya hear?

Yeo @ Wooly Mammoth
Not my bag, a lot of electronic ‘stuff’ goin’ on. Rhythmically strong though, a solid sense of what ‘pop’ is (and can be), and a nice following. Feet tappin’, good times. Definitely something to keep on the backburner. Not a barn stormer though…

Karl S. Williams @ The Press Club
They say he’s Australia’s answer to Jack White, but with more soul. I dig his eclectic roots set (soul, blues, nods to bluegrass and old time groove), and actually enjoy being buffeted like a cork on a stormy sea. The kids are getting into it… good to see.

LFresh The Lion @ Oh Hello!
Man, I am not a hip hop guy. I am not a beats guy. I am not a guy who knows where the groove is.

But I do know. Despite all that, I know where a beat should go. Where the hip and the hop should go. Where the groove goes. Yeah, fuckin’ A I do. It’s the blues, it brings that stuff home. Makes it innate.

L-Fresh has that beat. He also has the blues, but not many of his drunk, white audience would ever realise that. LFresh The Lion is a bluesman. Hard to see, but definitely there.

Saskwatch = funk (Good Time Refrain), which is essentially all you need to know.

See y’all tomorrow night,

S
