First single 'Octopus' will hammer your eardrums with the frenetic, uncontainable energy of its squirming namesake. Enigmatic frontman KELE O'KEREKE, fresh and presumably re-energised from solo pursuits; gifts us with a slab of punchy, gritty vocals as usual. The guitar work is tight, and suggests the British outfit have left the electronic-leanings of Intimacy behind for a return to the award-winning garage-indie-punk of Silent Alarm.
The pyrotechnically maniacal video for 'Octopus' shows the band performing live in a decrepit warehouse, cut up with flashes of popping fluorescent block-colour and ballerinas twirling hula hoops. The hectic flashing colours and looped crop-frames are the ideal visual accompaniment to the chaotic staccato guitar riff – ensuring both your eyes and ears are assaulted with BLOC PARTY's banging goodness.
