"The arrangements are interesting by necessity"
San Franciscan blues rockers Two Gallants’ fifth album as ever finds Adam Stephens’ bombastic, snaking guitar lines interacting with Tyson Vogel’s emotive, propulsive drumming to conjure a tough vibe which betters the sum of its parts. Retaining this raw feel which has served them so well is offset by allowing occasional glimpses of beauty to surface, smoothing any rough edges. The arrangements are interesting by necessity and there’s a questioning anti-consumerist bent to much of the lyrics, although the fiery Incidental is more traditional yet still the album highlight.
