Album Review: Thirsty Merc - Acoustic Anniversary Album (AAA)

StarStarStar

"A trip down memory lane for the fans that have stood by them"

More Thirsty Merc Thirsty Merc Profile

Remember Thirsty Merc? Another Aussie band that had a short spell in the spotlight before fading away – or so we thought. The new album is a trip down memory lane for the fans that have stood by them. Familiar songs like Someday Someday, In The Summertime and 20 Good Reasons are all given the acoustic treatment – stripped back to basics. Lead singer Rai Thistlethwayte’s vocals are still top notch but the band’s overall sound is definitely scaled down; sometimes they’re in danger of sounding like a jazzy lounge act. Time and age cause inevitable changes in a band’s lifetime; let’s hope it carries on in their favour.
