Album Review: The Strokes - Future Present Past

"Not a comeback record by a long stretch, but still worth a listen."

More The Strokes More The Strokes

It seems only yesterday that The Strokes were single-handedly leading the modern rock revival we had to have, dropping three critically lauded albums with minimum effort and leaving all the pretenders in their wake.

Arguably, things started to get mediocre (by their standards at least) after First Impressions Of Earth and it's a bummer to report more of the samey-ness on their current four-track EP (really a three-track EP; Fab Moretti remixes Oblivious at the end). Not a comeback record by a long stretch, but still worth a listen as there are definite hints of risk-taking, contract-free Strokes screaming to be let out for a full-length album.
