Four albums in and The Horrors have never sounded more confident in their auditory explorations. Luminous picks up where 2011's Skying left off, songs sprinkled with synth riffs and slathered in dense guitar reverb. It's languid, trippy, hypnotic stuff, Faris Badwan's vocals melodically self-assured in the whirring catchiness of I See You and So Now You Know. The band swims easily between the lightness of First Day Of Spring and noise barrages like Jealous Sun, wearing their influences on their sleeve, making an intricately clever record that is pure ear candy.
