Album Review: The Agonist - Eye Of Providence

With new vocalist Vicky Psarakis at the helm, The Agonist’s latest effort is likely to divide the metal community, but not their fanbase.

A disinterest in hooks and pop sensibilities abounds as the band tear apart the remnants of the metalcore genre, with layers of vocal disharmonies and proggy guitar patterns filling out the album. The sparse catchy choruses don’t indicate any potential hit singles. Still, the album whizzes past: the almost hour-long record is over in a flash of fury and divinity. Worth a look for those wanting something with a bit more depth.
