Album Review: Teddy Thompson & Kelly Jones - Little Windows

StarStarStar

"Do Kelly Jones' vocals have a warmth unrivalled by her musical contemporaries? Most definitely."

Kelly Jones and Teddy Thompson make beautiful music together, there is no doubt.

But have we heard these retro-inspired guy/gal duet albums before? Yes. Is it a suitable soundtrack for your morning latte or dinner party? For sure. Does Teddy Thompson's twang make the listener swoon? Certainly. And do Kelly Jones' vocals have a warmth unrivalled by her musical contemporaries? Most definitely. With shades of Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers, and maybe a bit of Dolly and Kenny, the LP opens with the pitch perfect Never Knew You Loved Me Too. Plaintive I Thought That We Said Goodbye tugs at the heartstrings. Little Windows is impeccably crafted but feels more tribute than original.
