"The only way they can go from here is further up."

Brisbane trio Sweater Curse have consistently made waves across Queensland and the rest of Australia since their formation. With their debut EP, See You, they prove they’re a power within the ‘90s mope-rock revival.

Opening with Can’t See You Anymore, the band immediately begin pulling on the heartstrings. Then, to a barrage of tremolo-bar slams and string pulls, comes Take Some Time. Each part of the track feels equal – whether it’s Chris Langenberg’s guitar prowess and occasional harmonies, the backing of Rei Bingham’s drums or Monica Sottile’s emotional vocals.

Z9 comes in aggressively with all three members attacking at a faster tempo, Langenberg now taking the vocal reins. The six-track EP ends with Ponyo, once again drawing out the very best of the band. For a debut EP, it’s a grand piece from the Brisbane band, and the only way they can go from here is further up.
