Steen Raskopoulos is the man to see.
His latest show, Character Assassin, is the best piece of improv-sketch comedy I’ve seen. You’re never a bystander at Raskopoulos’ shows, the entire audience boarding the Raskopoulos train hooting with encouragement and moaning with laughter. Raskopoulos inhabits one character after another from Greek Orthodox Priest to Mayor to a rap battle MC with style and without hesitation; he’s a master storyteller. Testament to this is his ability to create seemingly unrelated sketch-worlds that slowly breathe life into each other. The punchline of one is a tool for entering another, and a sincere introduction morphs organically and hilariously, over an hour of real joy, into a heartwarming finale.
