Album Review: St Paul And The Broken Bones - Sea Of Noise

"St Paul & The Broken Bones have somewhat misplaced the raucous essence..."

A 'sea of noise', for mine, isn't usually this composed. St Paul & The Broken Bones, fronted by the soulful and insatiable voice of Paul Janeway, are back and taking the most obvious next step from their 2014 balls-to-the-wall Half The City.

Sea Of Noise incorporates the whole band more so than highlighting Janeway's voice as Half The City did, but in doing so comes across as too polished. There are all the party jams you could hope for (La Bruit a groove-laden example), but in chasing a new direction St Paul & The Broken Bones have somewhat misplaced the raucous essence that they showed last time around.
