Potentially one of the most exciting electronic acts coming out of Australia right now is Gold Coast brother-sister duo LASTLINGS. After supporting RÜFÜS DU SOL across the country in 2017, Lastlings headed over to their studio on Rose Avenue in Venice, California to write and produce tracks for their debut record.
Since then, they've locked in their debut US shows, with their first festival appearance going down at the Do LaB stage at Coachella. Their Coachella appearance follows their performance with their new fam at the Rose Avenue Records pool party in Palm Springs this past week.
They've shared a new track with us as of last night, titled 'I've Got You'. It's their second track out on RÜFÜS DU SOL's label, and one that sits right at home with the rest of the label's back catalogue. It's also the second cut we've heard from the record and a huge indication of the direction the duo are headed.

In their own words, “I’ve Got You” is about overcoming that subtle but persistent feeling of being out of place. The song reflects on caring for our loved ones, talking to them, and making sure that they are okay.”
With vocals drenched in reverb and a complicated soundscape built of what seems like thousands of tiny sounds, 'I've Got You' sonically, celebrates all of the nuances built into the track. It's that feeling you get when you zoom in on a really high resolution picture, and realising just how much detail there is.
Pairing Amy's distinct, headstrong vocals with Josh's technical approach to percussion and synths, there's a new found confidence in the track that is sure to emanate through the record.
While the duo were in town not too long ago, our friend James Simpson caught up with them to take a few snaps at the scenic Carriageworks in Redfern. Lastlings wear Song for the Mute.
