SEGO, a two piece out of LA are set to drop their debut EP ‘Wicket Youth’ through Kitsuné. Due to be released on the 27th of October, it’ll encompass all that is good in the indie-pop genre with tinges of bubbly synths and an eye for a killer sound.
The first single from the EP, is eponymous. ‘Wicket Youth’ is energetic, wild and definitely not tentative.
The duo have released a carefully crafted video that utilises a quirky and crafty use of AV conventions as well as some handy cartooning. Directed, edited and animated by Andrew William Ralph, the quirkiness of the upbeat song is conveyed quite appropriately within this lo-fi dream.
Fuzzy, grainy and rainbows aplenty bombard the senses in this continuous run of AV heaven. A kaleidoscope of colours attack when the solo breaks up the mood of the song in the middle, and it is then that the cartoon-esque doodles trace their way across the screen.
Defintiely a cool track to come out with, ‘Wicket Youth’ is a taste of the defining EP we can expect from SEGO.
