Album Review: Sagamore - Sagamore

Though wholly caught up in kitsch music from the past, Sagamore is sweetly refreshing.

Harmonious boy/girl vocals underpin each of these jangly, nostalgic tunes. Sunny opener, Good Love, conveys a '60s-steeped 'free love' vibe. The occasional inclusion of brass instrumentation also imbues this folksy, lo-fi track with a particularly retro tone. Meanwhile, Carry On leans towards the soulful with choral-style female vocals even offering hints of gospel. Oh My Love similarly employs appealing elements of Americana in an Elvis-style, country-blues manner. Though wholly caught up in kitsch music from the past, Sagamore is sweetly refreshing. They play at The Tote on 5 Dec.
