“It's Such A Trap”: Meg Mac Refuses To Be Another Tragic Tale On 'It's My Party'

Album Review: Ouch My Face - Bunyip

StarStarStarHalf Star

"A riotous, gleeful slap in the face."

Bunyip is a riotous, gleeful slap in the face. Eye wastes no time blowing away the cobwebs, a detonation like Deerhoof on steroids.

Ben Ely’s bass line growls, a mix of his Pangaea metal-funk days and a My Disco metronome (the militarist hypercolour blast of Do The Wrong Thing). Creep Heart lurks, a feverish menace; Eaten By Buildings is an air-raid siren of skittish abandon. There’s a measured approach on tracks like Punched By A Giant and the doom groove on How To Gut A Fish is excellent. Celeste Potter meanwhile is an inimitable force of nature.
