Linkin Park On 'From Zero' & Their Return To Australia: 'We're More Assured That This Is What We Want To Be Doing'

Album Review: Metronomy - Summer 08

StarStar

"Mount's almost megalomaniac control over every other element results in an album of rare charmlessness."

More Metronomy Metronomy

Like your mate's once fascinating older brother who's miraculously managed to make a three-year degree last 12, Metronomy's Joseph Mount seems to be maturing in stasis.

His decision to essentially go solo for this fifth record makes for a denser sound, full of self pitying fame-weary codswallop with few reminders of the genius that made 2011's The English Riviera such a perfect indie-tronica confection. Beastie Boys turntablist Mix Master Mike on Old Skool scores cool points, but Mount's almost megalomaniac control over every other element results in an album of rare charmlessness.
