Meg MacCombining clean earnestness with contained aggression, Megmac is primed for fans of mildy confessional alt.pop, where the personality of the songstress is the release’s centrepiece. Fuelled by spates of vocal gymnastics, Mac’s storytelling vocal style quickly charms, permeating her appealing, lyrical tracks. With soulful clapping ringing through a pared-back piano melody, single/opener Roll Up Your Sleeve offers hints of quirk-factor and earthy positivity without grating.
