"Must have been a damn good pitch to get this one over the line."
Here we have the victory of grant writing over art. Maximum sounds excellent on paper: a synthesis of disciplines from studio and gym, a dancer and a bodybuilder working up a sweat together, the repetition motif in all its glory. However, the overwhelming impression here is why? Namely, why are we watching this? After the first few moments, when the concept registers, it’s neither interesting nor entertaining. In fact, this is barely a ‘show’ at all. Daniel Arnott’s tension-building soundscape aside, Maximum brings little more than perspiration to the party. Must have been a damn good pitch to get this one over the line.
