WAVE RACER is a name that has been thrown around the airwaves a lot lately, and most recently by the Diplo & Friends crew over at BBC Radio1.
The young Sydney producer did us proud on a recent installment of the show hosted by Mad Decent’s head honcho DIPLO. WAVE RACER made himself known in the hour long mix that travels between heavy Aus club beats and down tempo grooves so seamlessly you barely even notice it's happening.
The mixtape features tracks from artists like BASENJI, CASHMERE CAT, and SABLE, with plenty of WAVE RACER’s own remixes dotted throughout. The set begins with a COSMO’s MIDNIGHT remix of DESTINY’S CHILD ‘Say My Name’ which is packed to the brim with pop-synth sounds to get you in the mood, his eclectic song selection will continue to draw you in as the set unfolds.
DIPLO introduces the mix by reminding his listeners that WAVE RACER has “come a long way” since his days as a humble barista at Starbucks, and he’s not wrong. No offence intended to those Starbucks employees that haven’t managed to become a world-renowned producer as yet - your time will come.
