A few months back, we introduced SLUM SOCIABLE to you with their jazz-tronic single, 'Anyway'. Over the moon to encounter details of their debut EP, they've dropped its first listen, 'All Night'.
Reuniting with the delectable voice of Miller Upchurch, 'All Night' happily spotlights the vocalist, to the oblivious point of almost forgetting about the shy hand-snaps and guitar sweeps that softly linger behind. Eventually making their mark as the tune matures, an incoherent vocal suddenly bleeds throughout the space, staining the melody of a youthful piano line and leaking into the cracks of the percussive arrangement at play.
Musically expressing what the lyrics cannot, we perceive a conquest of courage that continuously turns into cowardice jelly, as the persona cannot quite articulate everything he hopes to achieve. In turn, this sees the progression of nothing but the ticking hands of a clock.
Two tracks in and we can already identify the distinctive Slum Sociable voice, both vocally and through their composition. Astounded by the premature expertise of their small enterprise, we cannot wait for Slum Sociable's debut EP, TQ, to drop through Liberation on Friday, 9th October.
