Live Review: Shlohmo just released a new single titled 'Looking At Plants'

Shlohmo has released a brand new single overnight titled 'Looking At Plants', after hinting at new music to fans last week.

SHLOHMO has released a brand new single overnight titled 'Looking At Plants'. This is not the producer's first release of the year as it follows on from a project titled Till The Morning he released just a few weeks ago in collaboration with Jay Worthy. The release comes after a couple of hints dropped on his social media throughout the last week, with one post confirming a new track was on the way and one slightly more mysterious.

If Dark Red is your favourite Shlohmo record, this latest cut will serve you well. It's ominous, tinkering and somewhat foreboding with a staggered beat, splashy cymbals and eerie keys. It slowly snakes along, meandering and picking up subtle instrumental additions here and there, collecting in rich details as it builds like the searing but soft guitar or the sudden break and dive into a bottoming-out bass line. It's the kind of song that will have the existing Shlohmo faithful falling in love all over again, while enticing new fans into the fold with its dynamic, unpredictable but still inviting sounds.

Shlohmo and fans recently celebrated the fifth birthday of his groundbreaking album, Dark Red this year. While there's no official word right now about what 'Looking At Plants' might mean in terms of other new music, this is more than enough to keep us going for now.
