Brisbane psych six-piece Nice Biscuit return with another powerful groove odyssey in 'Fairfield of Dreams'.

Brisbane psych six-piece NICE BISCUIT are on the cusp of something big. From cutting their teeth in their hometown by playing stellar shows across the city, to their more recent achievements including a new single, a record deal and a sold out East Coast tour, the band have been bubbling along, crafting their magical groove odysseys and now, it seems, they're about to have their moment.

Today, Nice Biscuit have announced the release of a 7" vinyl pressing with their earlier single, 'Captain', and 'Fairfield of Dreams' which we have the pleasure of premiering. Out on Break Even Recordings, this release signifies the turning point for Nice Biscuit as they go from a fledgling local band to a force to be reckoned with on the national scene, and you only have to listen to 'Fairfield of Dreams' to know why.

According to co-frontwoman Billie Star, 'Fairfield of Dreams' was initially written by Ben Mulheran (guitar, keys, harp, vocals) and then each member added their own flair to the respective parts. The song details an accidental trip back through time while casually walking along a river. On the surface, it's a sun-soaked kaleidoscope that features some quintessential psychedelic influences, but it goes deeper than that. Metamorphosing into mulling about walking along a sure and certain path in life but then finding yourself in totally unexpected circumstances, Nice Biscuit depict the haze of mundanity and routine and juxtapose this with the spiralling that comes from realising you're not where you thought you'd be, and you don't know how you got there.

Featuring the ever-brilliant harmonies of co-frontwomen Billie and Grace singing lyrics like "I'm still losing time," over and over again creating stress and evoking the image of falling down a rabbit hole of panic and despair, Nice Biscuit navigate the ride that is figuring out where you are in life, how you got there and where you need to go. As the song erupts into a raucous crescendo, the 'Fairfield of Dreams' quickly turns into a tunnel of nightmares, before finally levelling out to assure you that you are, after all, right where you need to be.

Much like Nice Biscuit themselves, 'Fairfield of Dreams' is about trusting the journey of life no matter how uneasy it makes you feel, and as the band has trusted its journey so far, and has consistently continued to develop and evolve, there's nothing surer than they're exactly where they need to be, and that it's smooth sailing from here on. We can't wait to see what comes next.

The Captain/Fairfield of Dreams 7" is out April 20th via Break Even Recordings. Pre-order it here.
