Live Review: Mallrat 'Sunglasses'

Titled 'Sunglasses', MALLRAT has enlisted the help of Tigerilla for production duties, and the match is an incredibly apt one.

It's hard to believe that this girl is still under the age of 18. It's a testament to her that she's got a sound that extends so beyond her years and works to her great advantage.

MALLRAT is her alias, and she's perfected the kind of light-hearted electronic femme-rap that the likes of M.I.A. would be stoked to hear. She put her first single 'Suicide Blonde' out not too long ago, but she's back with a new one.

Titled 'Sunglasses', she's enlisted the help of Tigerilla for production duties, and the match is an incredibly apt one.

Featuring a wonky brand of spoken word rap over a warped beat, it's a tropical jam that almost has no hint of traditional tropical sounds. It's a nice adaptation, but even moreso it's an incredibly refreshing and original brand of sound that could only instantly be attributed to Mallrat.

She may be young, but that doesn't mean shit when she's coming out right on top.
