Kayex deliver an infectious house groove with disco and indie stylings on their brand new single 'Mindless', custom made for lighting up dancefloors.
Lifelong friends Palassi Kailis and Tom Derickx together make up Kayex, an indie electronic act set on creating tunes to make you feel good. We've already had the pleasure of premiering a single of theirs, 'I'LL DO WHAT U WANT', in early 2020, and today we are stoked for them to return and give us the first taste of new music in the form of 'Mindless'. For fans of Daft Punk or Chromeo, Kayex prove with 'Mindless' they're maturing as an act and as songwriters while maintaining that infectious energy we first fell for last year.
The undeniable groove of 'Mindless' was inspired by a chance encounter with urban street dancing pioneer, Darrio Phillips, earlier this year. Designed to take listeners on a journey through the eyes of a man who lived in an era where dance ruled the world, it's a celebration of feeling good, custom made to ignite dancefloors everywhere. Kayex said of 'Mindless' that they were inspired by Phillips' "never-growing-up attitude."
"Though the song is written about a fictional character, we believe the piece is a depiction of Darrio's exciting mindset and attitude towards life.”
Built on a solid foundation of a chugging house groove and lit up with disco and indie flourishes, 'Mindless' is the sonic depiction of the duo as they come more into their own than ever before. And, if our recommendation isn't enough for you, maybe this tidbit from the duo might do the trick: "Tom showed his 90 year old grandpa this song and the poor bloke needed a hip replacement after wiggling his limbs to this soggy bassline."
