If you're looking for experimental pop with strong electronic influences then look no further than JARBIRD and their EP, Such Is House. A perfect example of progressive pop and just what the genre can do it's definitely worth a listen.
Jarbird are a London outfit made up of four top notch musicians who were seemingly made to work together. Weaving harmonies and textured melodies create a fascinating soundscape you won't want to stop listening to.
The first track 'Such Is House' might sound familiar to you and that is because you may have already heard it. A demo form of the song circulated online last year and got fans eager for a taste of more and now with the official release of the song they can finally have it.

The song is a rising crescendo that starts as nothing more than a steady beat and soaring harmonies, it then rises in dynamics until the very end of the song where it fades out on a single note. It's a one of a kind piece and it's no wonder why the track first gained them traction.
Next on the EP is their second single 'Iona,' my personal favorite. It's a perfect song for rainy days and as we're about to get a lot more of those it's definitely one to keep at the ready. Like 'Such Is House' 'Iona' is a slowly rising crescendo, but ultimately it is a quieter song with synths that soar in and out moving with the vocals to compliment rather than accompany them. It is not until the very end of the song with increased layering of the vocals and a strong beat coming in that the dynamic range heightens and the effect is spectacular.
'Gavelkind' is slightly different from 'Such Is House' and 'Iona' in that it begins with the vocals being switched between members. The synths and pads are more orchestral in sound than the previous two tracks too, creating a darker soundscape with an aura of mystery to keep listeners enthralled.
'Jocasta' is the lightest track on the EP although it is also the most experimental of the four. While the other three have more ties to traditional pop 'Jocasta' abandons those ties to create something both unusual and spectacular.
Such Is House is out now via Oskar.
