There's not a single artist in the world like IMBI THE GIRL. They first popped up in 2017 with their debut, and since then, they've been using their music to tell their story and explore the world around them. They're currently out on tour supporting Odette, and in amongst it all, they've found time to share a new single with us titled 'i used to'.

Teaming up with Perth group SUPEREGOimbi says of the track “''i used to' is about a period in life where I and those around me were overwhelmed with energy and intense feelings to the point of complete confusion. It’s an ode to that state of being, an acceptance of how it feels, it’s importance in our life processes and also a declaration of my dedication to clarity and receptivity. When writing it, the lyrics and melody came very naturally to me, so every time I listen to it I gain further insight into its meaning.”

Pairing their penchant for poetic hip hop, RnB and soul with SUPEREGO's similar approach to creating, the collaboration is a perfectly apt one. The addition of SUPEREGO on both the vocal and instrumental front gives a complete full-bodied feel to imbi's vision.

'i used to' shows imbi doing what they do best - storytelling and making sense of what they're experiencing through their tight flow and expert ability to confidently verbalise their emotions.

They've also just announced that in support of the release, they'll be headed out on their first headline tour this June with Brisbane producer Azura on support. They'll be starting the tour at home in Sydney, with a show at The Lansdowne before heading to The Workers Club in Melbourne and wrapping it all up at Black Bear Lodge up in Brisbane.
