With a whole bunch of new tunes in the works, Melbourne's FRESH HEX has been pumping out some of the best quality pop coming out of this country right now. Last year, he put out his first single in a little while titled 'I'm Gone', marking a fresh chapter for the producer in which he began singing on his own tracks for the first time.
The hyperreal sheen he brings to his tracks seems to level up on his latest, 'Control Myself'. Delivering pristine, squeaky clean vocals atop bubbly samples, clunky percussion and sunny bouts of synthesised brass sounds, this feels like Fresh Hex's most realised work to date.
There's a balance to the vocals and instrumental on this track that allows each to shine, but never to outshine the other. In his most stellar vocal performance yet, I guarantee by the second chorus, you'll be singing along. He's got his own pop formula down pat, one that would come as a result of him being both the songwriter and producer on the track.

In true Fresh Hex fashion, there's all of those PC Music-esque elements present, but the beauty of this one is in his style of songwriting, the emotional delivery of the track and how he's moulded the production around his vocals. 'Control Myself' is one hell of an emotional banger. I can see myself listening to this one alone at night or screaming out the words with my friends on the dancefloor, but either way, the delivery is impactful.
