Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros know what's up. This track only proves it is so. They've got soul, rhythm and sparkling charisma.

EDWARD SHARPE AND THE MAGNETIC ZEROS are some hard working little binary bees. Over the past 12 months, they’ve been in the studio recording their own forthcoming LP, have collaborated with The Flaming Lips for Record Store Day and have been jammin’ around the country on the Big Easy Express.

‘That’s What’s Up’ is a sweet little ditty. There’s odd atmospheric sounds including jangling “Am I in the desert?” guitars, there’s upbeat, romantic vocals from Alex Ebert and Jade Castrinos, and finally, there’s a liberal sprinkling of tambourine and clapping. This song’s got soul, and falls pretty in line with Ebert’s vision for the messianic protagonist of his book, Edward Sharpe, who “was sent down to Earth to kinda heal and save mankind...but he kept getting distracted by girls and falling in love.” We all have alter-egos like that, right?
