Live Review: PREMIERE: Charlie Lim offers up glimmering indie electronica-pop on 'Welcome Home'

Singapore's CHARLIE LIM has today shared a brand new single, lifted from his forthcoming new record due out later this year. Titled 'Welcome Home', Lim effortlessly combines soul with indie electronica-pop to create a special moment in time, a moment that you truly have to pause and listen properly to fully appreciate.

Kicking off with erratic clicks, claps and booms, the many layers Lim is working with here all quickly come together before his beautiful voice comes in to float over the top. Above a shifting bed of beats comprised of debt percussion and sophisticated production, Lim soars with his pop sensibilities to offering a glimmering slice indie pop tune that shines so bright.

Having worked with Yeo and Simon Lam on his forthcoming album, it's clear that Lim is gearing up for something big. With its impending release slated for late 2018, Lim said of the themes behind the new record, “A lot of the songs on this new record are about the relationship with pursuing something that you love doing. I often find myself questioning the idea of one’s purpose and where we get our sense of validation from. I think it’s something we can all relate to, especially in this day and age where we're constantly trying to find our ‘ikigai’ while FOMO-ing from lack of self-actualisation.”

Locked in for two performances at this year's BIGSOUNDLim is really onto something good here with his warm, inviting and meticulously-refined indie electronica-pop. Here's hoping there's plenty more where this came from on his forthcoming record too!
