It's been a stellar twelve months for GODMODE's latest signee, Channel Tres. After his debut run of shows in Australia towards the end of last year, he's since been on tour with Robyn and is about to head out on tour with Vince Staples.

In an ode to a new form of black exceptionalism, he's put out a new track that he's been spinning in his live set for a while now. Titled 'Brilliant N***a', he's built this one on a smooth foundation of deep house, dub echoes and that tantalising jazz flute.

It's his first official single since the release of his self-titled EP last year, and it's an apt addition. Blending his West Coast rap tendencies with his expert ability to create effortless Detroit-style electronica, this one feels like the perfect balance of narrative, dance and curation.

With splashy dub echoes filtering in and out of the backing vocals, his genre exploration on this one isn't really limited to just one thing. He draws influence from a variety of sounds and genres to put this one together, and more than anything, it comes out feeling like a true Channel Tres track.

For an artist that found his sound really early on in his releases, his consistency in putting out music that continues to innovate and keep you moving remains captivating.
