If you're yet to familiarise yourself with Brisbane rising star AKUREI, now's the time. 2019 has been a busy year for the electronic artist, coming off the back of his previous releases 'Stockholm' and 'Hollow' which not only attracted global attention, but also served as the exciting first taste of what was to come on his highly anticipated sophomore EP September.
Akruei's music is high quality, stripped back lo-fi electronic that draws upon in a range of indie and RnB influences to create minimal melodies and heartwarming music. Now he's back with the his newly released September EP, which features the immersive unheard tracks 'Quarter Tank Full' and 'Clockwork'.
The central track of the album 'Quarter Tank Full' see Akurei collaborate with Golden Vessel on shimmering productions, subtly building alluring guitars and soothing vocals to form depictions of Akurei's thoughts whilst travelling.
“September’ is a collection of songs I wrote abroad in September of last year, and a soundtrack to a quarter life crisis. All of the initial song writing was done over a few cities across Europe in Hostels, Airbnb’s and living rooms" says Akurei. "The exciting thing for me was returning home with the songs and coming back to them and seeing them develop and grow as I pulled them apart and rebuilt them. I did a lot more production on this EP compared to August, with a little help from Maxwell (Golden Vessel) on 'Stockholm' and 'Quarter Tank Full."

“I wrote Quarter Tank Full in London in a friend’s living room. Lyrically, it’s about the daily walk into Clapham Common, and the things I had on my mind during these walks-mainly wanting to reconcile with someone back home.”
