Sure, her voice still packs a punch, but Louder should’ve been so much more.
As a closet Glee fan (aren't we all?), there was a touch of guilty pleasure in discovering that the star of that show, Lea Michele, was gearing up to release a solo album. But where Rachel Berry is a character of depth – an outsider with a heart of gold – the 11 tracks on Louder are pop-by-numbers. For someone whose voice soared on Broadway in productions of Les Miserables and Fiddler On The Roof pre-Glee, Michele here hides behind stodgy and over-produced power ballads. Sure, her voice still packs a punch, but Louder should've been so much more.
