"A veritable goldmine of tales from the heart and the land, politics and poetry."

More Kev Carmody More Kev Carmody

National treasure Kev Carmody has unveiled a 41-song collection of new recordings, some written as far back as 1967, and it's a veritable goldmine of tales from the heart and the land, politics and poetry.

Amid the detritus of an old fruit packing shed, Carmody mixes found sounds with his steady acoustic rhythms, though there's some excellent oddities to be found too: Chippin' The Cotton is frantic and full of industrial percussion, and with Carmody's rich, thick spoken voice Dajarra Night Wind could be a soothing bed-time meditation from his traditional lands. An extraordinary body of work.
