A year of travelling, writing and recording seems a bit excessive for a mini-album of mostly bedroom studio-level electro-dreampop, but the time taken to refine these seven tracks has worked in Grand Pavilion's favour.
The Byron Bay duo marry Panda Bear-ish harmonies and Odessa/Bibio-like lo-fi digital serenity to radio-friendly effect. Stranger (accompanied by a simple yet disconcerting video) and Weightless might not break any progressive moulds, but Foreign Escapes is a fine piece of blissful escapism. Let's just hope a full album doesn't take another year to sweep us away.
