"The girls have fun with the vocals and the boys jam along at full speed to end on a high as we all groove along."
As early arrivals start to fill out the room, Airwolf jumps on the decks and spins a few tunes to instantly put us in a good mood. His selection of funky remixes has us up on our feet dancing in no time and we swoon as he drops the latest RÜFÜS track, You Were Right.
We’ve all heard KLP DJ but tonight she’s behind the microphone and shares her voice with a whole bunch of brand new original songs. First and foremost she’s a singer-songwriter and she blows us away with yet another of her many talents during her energetic performance.
A new song, Recover, tells the tale of getting over bad friendships and usually features Remi but tonight she attempts to rap his parts in his absence and does an awesome job. She serves up the Dcup remix version of Hands and gives him a shout-out as he dances along in the audience tonight.
During an older song, Medicine, it’s appropriate that she salutes her co-headliners Gold Fields, who have remixed the track. KLP commands our attention throughout the entire set and finishes with Air, which highlights her great stage presence and infectious electro pop style.

Smoke fills the room and pulsating flashes of light introduce Gold Fields to the stage. Immediately we hear the sounds of tribal drumming rhythms vibrating through the room to overload our senses. They play some fresh material for us tonight that will be on the new album, which they tell us they’re currently writing. KLP is invited back to the stage for their latest single, Make Me Feel, a soothing, dreamy, synth-laced groove with luscious vocals.
Throwing it way back with an explosive performance of an old favourite, Treehouse, they lead into a lengthy ambient instrumental to entrance us in the moment. Their recent release, Hold Me, builds up at all the right moments and is bursting with high energy levels, charismatic vocals and summer vibes.
Because it’s their Melbourne show and “the best of the tour so far”, Hold Me isn’t their last song tonight; they keep the momentum going as KLP and her band join in for one last song — a cover of ‘80s classic, Teardrops, by Womack & Womack. The girls have fun with the vocals and the boys jam along at full speed to end on a high as we all groove along.
