Fringe: Monty The Musical

Although it is more karaoke than musical, and despite running 30 minutes overtime, Monty The Musical, a one woman-turned-man show performed by Nikki Langford, does have its moments. As Monty prepares to give his Father of the Bride speech about the daughter he doesn’t know, he recalls all the women who had an impact on his life. His energetic recollections elicit a few chuckles, and the scene about his mother is genuinely beautiful: there is no doubt that Langford is a talented performer. The message, though, that ‘women are nothing and everything at the same time’ doesn’t quite sit right.
