Ella HooperThere remains a likeability to Ella Hooper in the 20 (yes, 20...) years she's been in our ears and/or on our screens.
But while we know that personality and identity, some of this suggests she might not have quite fully worked out a musical one. That's not saying this isn't good — it is, as it goes from Break Up Blonde's unashamed '80s synth-pop through to the perhaps more personal relationship dripping away of Interust (The Slow Death) and Daily Detritus' slight country twang and memories through a rainy window. She's matured into a singer of real feeling, maybe just needing a little more stylistic focus.
