Kylie Minogue performed a snippet of Especially For You on Saturday (31 May) with a fan dressed as “lil Jason.”
A young fan named Leo held a sign that caught Minogue’s attention. It read: “I’m dressed as Jason ESPECIALLY FOR YOU.” He wore a suit, a fedora hat, and glasses, and had a big smile plastered on his face.
Minogue invited Leo on stage at bp pulse LIVE in Birmingham, England, for a performance of Especially For You, a duet recorded by Minogue and Jason Donovan from Donovan’s debut album, Ten Good Reasons, released in 1989. She sang the song for Leo before handing him the microphone so he could enjoy the spotlight.
Leo’s mother, Claire Lyness, commented on the video Minogue posted of the performance on her Instagram. “Oh my goodness!!!! Thank you so much for sharing 😍 Leo is my son. What an incredible night you gave us Kylie! Thank you to all involved 😍😍😍 xx,” she wrote.
Minogue captioned the video, “Leo, this is Especially For You, lil Jason 🥹💖🥹💖 Ps … Happy Birthday Big Jason ❤️”.

Kylie Minogue continues her Tension tour in London this week before spending the rest of June and July in Europe. The tour ends in Monterrey on 26 August.
In April, Minogue received the Ted Albert Award for Outstanding Services to Australian Music at this year’s APRA Music Awards.
She received the honour after another significant honour in February, when she was honoured with a commemorative star at Melbourne Park, which pays tribute to her 35 years of performing at Rod Laver Arena. Kylie’s star can be found at the forecourt in front of Rod Laver Arena, adjacent to the statue of Frontier Touring co-founder Michael Gudinski.
Reviewing Minogue’s recent show at Perth’s RAC Arena, The Music’s Jake Fitzpatrick wrote, “This was a woman who gave it her all, and in doing so, made 15,000 people forget about everything outside the arena, if only for a few hours. Kylie’s legacy is undeniable. Nearly 40 years in the game, and she’s still shimmering as brightly as always.”
