D.R.O EP is the debut by Austin rapper D.R.O, and though his rap name comes from his initials, it’s hardly unintentional — a Wiz Khalifa/A$AP Rocky cloud vibe runs through the record’s first half.
Equanimity 3.0 (how’s that for vocabulary for a rap song?) is a highlight. Separated by two instrumental tracks, the second half is much more introspective and sombre, in stark contrast to the otherworldly positivity that precedes it. Despite being ten tracks, the record still feels like an EP: the album opens with an instrumental cheekily titled Freestyle To This. Sorry, I don’t smoke.
