Capital Punishment, however, is just as tired and slow as the tram you will have to take home after the show.
Variety night Capital Punishment features an “all-star” line up of Canberra comedians including Jez Margosis and Greg Kimball. The show, nontheless, is not worth waiting up for and wouldn't be even if it were earlier than 11pm. Kimball's set is boring, doesn't flow and his best joke is about explosive diarrheal. It wasn't that funny either. Margosis, while marginally better than Kimball, only managed this momentous achievement because his delivery was slightly more polished. His jokes were still dated and lame however.
One stand out however is Danny Philippa. The newcomer has a great stage presence and good timing. His tight set is a shiny little diamond in a quagmire of crud. It'll be interesting to see if he develops his own show at next year's festival.
