Brain Candy Live

StarStarStarHalf Star

The venues may be a little smaller than what MythBusters legend Adam Savage experienced on his last trip Down Under, but the ideas throughout his new project with YouTube star Michael Stevens, Brain Candy Live, are just as big.

It’s fitting that two self-proclaimed science nerds would have such a strong onstage chemistry, with the two bouncing pun after pun off one another, while breaking down the complexities of everyday physics in a fun and relatable way.

Numerous theories were explained and then showcased through big experiments, most of which had audience members gasping in amazement, which is a response that describes the show’s title.

Although the pair’s upbeat energy kept things light-hearted and easy to digest, it was when Savage was left to his own devices that the show truly took flight. He rattled through an exciting Q&A section before detailing his journey into science and fame in an inspirational manner that was priceless to the children in attendance.

There was enough to satisfy every age, and if learning was always that fun, we’d all have PhDs. The show has been described as a “two-hour play date with Walt Disney, Willy Wonka and Albert Einstein”, which wouldn’t be more accurate. You’ll also see enough ping pong balls to last you a lifetime.
