Album Review: Belle Haven - Everything Ablaze

StarStarStar

"Belle Haven sound like they have 1,000 volts flowing through them; they just need to switch on a few more light bulbs."

More Belle Haven Belle Haven

Belle Haven have got all the tools: a bludgeoning sound, bull-neck screaming and a good balance between melodicism and noise.

Everything Ablaze has some exemplary moments – such as vocalist David Vernon’s almost inconceivably unhinged rant on Hunt For Health and Closet, which ends by collapsing on itself – flashes that prove they can stand apart from the great unwashed metalcore herd. It’s a shame there are just a few. Belle Haven sound like they have 1,000 volts flowing through them; they just need to switch on a few more light bulbs.
