Calling their second long-player Till The Tomb, and naming a track Death Metal, London boys Beaty Heart appear to be aiming for dark places, but end up in sexy spaces.
Recent singles Flora and Soft Like Clay pulse with late night urban beats, Joshua Mitchell's vocals sustaining a very white croon. Raw Gold delivers thrusting carnality, Mitchell surrendering completely to his lover over a simple yet affective electro-groove. That's where Till The Tomb succeeds best: bumping and grinding without overcooking the production. But a couple more memorable hooks to really penetrate the consciousness wouldn't have gone amiss.
