For all of its depressive qualities, this is a good album – it’s just not a happy one.

Bibio heeds no boundaries in bringing moonlit, sombre folk and party tunes together. Whether you have the patience for it is another matter.

It would be unwise to categorise Victim Of Love in the ‘easy listening’ genre like you would with, say, Michael Kiwanuka or Al Green.

All in all, it’s a dull album that you want to love but really can’t.

Afraid Of Heights is an interesting step forward for Wavves, and definitely worth a listen.

Detroit is a welcome return from one of Australia’s great rock renaissance men – testament to the fact that you can’t keep a great man down.

This is definitely their strongest and most passionate body of work since becoming a three-piece. Now if only we could get them to tour here again.

Whether on a Texan plain or in a hot tub in Scandinavia, Absolute Zero is a winner.

Because, my beloved city, My Left Boot have created one shit hot record.

The later it gets, the better Urban Heat Island sounds, so try it after a night out just before sunrise and once you’ve adjusted to Night Works’ world, the final tracks blended with the first rays of sunshine will hit the spot.
