Highly accessible but soulful, Addicted To Pain’s anthemic hooks, All Ends Well’s uplifting refrain and mini-epic title track fit snugly alongside the groovy, syncopated riffs of Cry A River and Bleed It Dry’s startling Tremonti solo.

That’s more about where hip hop is at today – the concept and album work well, but times have changed.

More like ‘holy shit!’

While Man Man have certainly chosen a more streamlined approach for this release, they haven’t completely tamed the crazy.

The album never takes off; it’s a sweetly woozy listen without a natural start or finish.

All this simply extends his trademark into the realm of over-familiarity; thus Innocents comes off as a greatest hits without any hits.

While some songs fall into obscurity, treasures like Waterproof Mascara prove that Sheryl Crow is very comfortable in country, just as the title suggests.

It’s the frenetic pace of Sew My Mouth Shut, Quitters and Bury Me where the band feel most at home.
