Wild Light is a brilliant and mature record that never loses sight of its multifaceted goals – whether it branches out to dance, rock or noise.

His voice mixes croon and everyman storytelling and it’s prominent in the more blissed out Failing Now. A variety of pace and structure keeps things fresh throughout this engrossing debut.

The WAM Pop Song Of The Year winners’ unique blend of pop, soul and rock’n’roll is combined with ‘50s electric guitar riffs, big band styled horns and singer Novac Bull’s cheeky and seductive voice.

Apparently, they dream of “selling out for six figures and a Coles ad”. Make it so.

Rose still has the melodies, but needs some spark to truly get wild.

An obscure name warrants accolades, a memorable title track and demonstrated songwriting ability merits a second listen.

There’s some points of distinctiveness he/they should maybe push for to become something more individual; something they can build into music of note.

While the production of Harvest Of Gold’s pop contingent is to be commended, surely nothing can compare to the symphonic beauty of Pulse, its boisterous orchestral styling fronted by Croome’s intimate and innocent storytelling.

We emerge feeling free and reborn.
