Album Review: Tornts - Street Visions

Not perfect, but a great statement.

Tornts may just be the herald of underground g-rap in Australia. The Hired Goons Crew MC is usually enclosed by Melbourne – Street Visions' opening track, Dirty Town, is all about the “craters” in the city's streets – but his latest release is something sure to appeal to the whole country. This isn't your usual Australian hip hop album: no glaring positivity, no soul samples, but layers of dirty urban with just enough paranoid, harsh modern hip hop. Tornts' verses are constantly moving, delving into culture and nostalgia with critical ease. Not perfect, but a great statement.
