Album Review: Royal Chant - Small Town Bruises/A Day At The Wauchope Races

This combined double EP, serving as an album touring promotion, is a wonderful example of everything Royal Chant do great, namely the fuzzy guitar, the energetic yet droning heaviness they sculpt and the hooky vocals.

Ulysses, the lead tune from A Day At The Wauchope Races, recalls You Am I in the best way. This is exactly the crux of this album – this is not revelatory music designed to show you a new path, but it is hard-hitting and groovy Australian rock with an intelligence behind it that other bands would envy.
