“Mother is the extension of Goats and Black Peak."
The third LP from Xylouris White, aka Cretan lute player George Xylouris and Australian drummer Jim White, continues an exploration set in motion by 2015’s Black Peak.
Their new effort, Mother, is an eclectic listen from start to finish, and just like the two singles we’ve been gifted so far suggest, there’s a sense of urgency present throughout.
“Mother is the extension of Goats and Black Peak. Three things, all part of a whole. Goats are mothers, Zeus was raised on Amaltheia’s milk, Black Peak is Mother Earth... Mother Earth is the mother of everything,” Xylouris said of the nine-track album.
It’s been named to denote new life and the significance of simplicity and a child-like approach throughout backs that up.

“So, we connect mother and child and play instruments as toys. Xylouris White is still gestating,” Xylouris explains.
Mother is out tomorrow, January 19, via ABC Music and you can listen to the thrilling, hypnotic and brooding LP below right now.
