Inner west beer connoisseurs Young Henrys refuse to let good things die young, announcing today the resurgence of the iconic Rock & Roll Circus on Friday May 9th.
After bringing the age-old tradition to SXSW Sydney in 2024, Rock & Roll Circus will take over Marrickville’s The Vic On The Park, set to provide a lineup of Australian musos who will perform back-to-back classic rock & roll covers.
Rock & Roll Circus first kicked off in the basement of the beloved (and now permanently closed) Frankie’s Pizza By The Slice in 2016, created to celebrate rock & roll legends old and new. Young Henrys have since taken the reins, curating supergroup performances with alumni like Phil Jamison, Andy Kent of You Am I, Zoe Catterall of The Buoys, Andy Golledge and so many more, even expanding to venues like Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club and Newtown Street Party.
However, this year’s edition is being coined the “biggest iteration yet” of Rock & Roll Circus, inviting Ruby Fields, Harry O’Brien of Pacific Avenue, Jacob Finch of The Terrys, Patience Hodgeson of The Grates, Gold Fang, Sophie Mccomish of Body Type, Al Grigg of Palms and Straight Arrows, Fathers Favourite, Vanda of Liquid Zoo and Sammy + Lucy of The Beefs to the circus stage. Each artist will be handed the mic to sing out major rock anthems with the Young Henrys House Band, made up of Monte and Elliott from The Delta Riggs, Jack Moffit from The Preatures, Adam Della Grotta and special guests on the horns, True Vibenation.
Accompanying the festivities will be a DJ set from The Presets’ Julian Hamilton, as well as a supporting set from indie rock outfit Pan-Pacific Grand Prix, a drag show featuring Jackie Daniels, Cassandra The Queen and Amyl The Queen, and comedy courtesy of Ray Badran. On the beverage side, pop-up bars will be offering limited edition Young Henrys beers alongside their full range.
Speaking on the essence of Rock & Roll Circus, Young Henrys Co-Founder and Director Oscar McMahon said:
Don't miss a beat with our FREE daily newsletter
“Rock & Roll Circus is, in simplistic terms, about enjoying the action and spectacle of music. By inviting our talented friends to come down and sing that song they've always wanted to sing, music becomes the verb and collective experience it should always be. Roll up, roll up, the Rock & Roll Circus is coming to town.”
Young Henrys Rock & Roll Circus is going down at The Vic On The Park in Marrickville on Friday May 9th from 7PM to late. Entry is free, with RSVP is essential here.
